Study commissioned by BaselCircular and conducted by GCiLS identifies potentials, challenges and fields of action

A comprehensive ecosystem analysis of the life sciences sector in the Basel region has been published under the title Towards a Circular Life Sciences Sector in Basel. The study was commissioned and funded by BaselCircular and conducted by Go Circular in Life Sciences (GCiLS).

The objective of the analysis was to identify existing potentials and systemic challenges for the implementation of circular economy approaches in life sciences, and to outline concrete fields of action across the value chain. The study draws on desk research, expert interviews, stakeholder workshops and supporting research activities.

The results provide a structured evidence base for decision-makers in public policy, economic development and research, as well as for companies in the pharmaceutical, MedTech and healthcare sectors. The report includes case studies, application areas and strategic perspectives to support the development of circular initiatives in the region.
